Principal

Rich Brune has been in Lutheran education over 30 years and Principal at Suburban Bethlehem since 2001. He is married to Pam, a teacher at SBLS. Kathy Blessing
School Secretary

Kathy Blessing has been the school secretary at Suburban Bethlehem since June of 2006. She is married to Kurt. They have two children, Alicia and Jacob. “After 25 years as a secretary in the dental field, I have found a new home in the office at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran School.” 2 Timothy 3:16

Patty Macke
Admissions Counselor

Patty Macke is excited to be working with SBLS as their Admissions Counselor. She is married to Brian and they have 2 daughters. Paige is a student at CLHS and Brooke is a student at SBLS. Patty and her family have been members of SBL Church and School since 2000. "I love the opportunity to share all the great things our school has to offer."

Senior Pastor

Pastor Bill Mueller serves our Lord as Senior Pastor of Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School. He is married to Julie and they have two children, Sarah and Nicholas. He enjoys seeing people connected to God's grace in Jesus Christ. Acts 16:31

Gary Mews
Computer and Math

Gary Mews has been a Lutheran school teacher and technology coordinator with Suburban Bethlehem for 15 years. He is married to Amy, who works in Lutheran education as an administrative assistant for the LCMS Indiana District. They have three children: Paul, David, and Laura. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

Alyson Akey
Eighth Grade

Alyson Akey has been teaching for 8 years. 7 of those years have been at SBLS. She is married and has three girls. They are Skylar, Lizzy, and Jenna. She graduated from Indiana University in 2000. She is also a graduate of Unity Lutheran School and Concordia Lutheran High School. She teaches 6-8 social studies and English and serves as 8th grade homeroom teacher.

Aaron Barnholt
Seventh Grade

Aaron Barnholt is in his second year of teaching ministry at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran School. He teaches sixth through eighth grade math and literature and serves as the seventh grade homeroom teacher. Aaron is a graduate of Suburban Bethlehem and feels very blessed to be teaching where he went to school. His favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Rachael Johnson
Sixth Grade

Rachael graduated from IPFW with a bachelor degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in language arts, science, and social studies. She completed her colloquy courses and became a Called teacher in September 2010. She has been teaching for five years, with the last four years at Suburban teaching Jr. High science, social studies, and grade 1-4 physical education. She is married to Ryan Johnson, sales manager at Dimension Ford. They are expecting their first child in June. Joshua 1:9

Dan Gottschalk
Fifth Grade

Dan Gottschalk teaches 5th grade homeroom at SBL and also physical education and art in grades 6-8. He has been an educator for twenty years, fifteen of them at Suburban Bethlehem. Coaching soccer, basketball, and track round out his work at SBL. God has blessed him and his wife Ellen, also a teacher, with three daughters and one son.

Amy Loppnow
Third Grade

Amy Loppnow has been in Lutheran education for over 20 years. She has been at SBLS since 1994. "Third grade is a huge year of growth between the primary and intermediate grades. It is great to be a part of helping them grow and prepare in this transition." Phil. 4:4-9

Peggy Zilz
Second Grade

Peggy Zilz has been teaching Second Grade here at Suburban since 2005. She and her husband, Paul, have been blessed with four children: David, Kristen, Daniel, and Emily. Ephesians 4:32: "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

Ann Fichtner
First Grade

Ann Fichtner has been teaching for 15 years. She has been teaching 1st grade for 4 years at Suburban Bethlehem. She is married to Joe, Pastor at Our Hope Lutheran Church in Huntertown. They have 3 grown daughters and 4 grandchildren. Lutheran Schools help a child grow in Christ along with all the benefits of outstanding academic education. Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

Ellen Gottschalk
Kindergarten

Ellen Gottschalk has nine years teaching experience in grade 2, Kindergarten, and Pre-School. She started teaching Kindergarten at Suburban Bethlehem in January, 2012. She and her husband Dan, the 5th grade teacher at SBLS, have been blessed by God with three daughters and a son. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and reading. She tries to live her life by remembering Psalm 27: 1, "The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?"

Terri Hobbs
Preschool

Terri Hobbs has been with Suburban Bethlehem since 1987 in various roles. She took over the early childhood program in 2000. She is married to husband, Gary. They have a married son, Zach, who is an alumnus of the school. “I love being with the youngest kids. Pre-School is where hugs and laugher can always be found.” Matthew 19:14

Andrew Schempf
Music

Andrew oversees the music done at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran church. He also teaches several music classes at the Suburban Bethlehem School and enjoys sharing God's gift of music with as many people as he can. This Bible verse helps to express the assurance that God is always with us and we can trust completely in him! Isaiah 43:2

Justin Gudel

Justin Gudel has been working in a variety of Lutheran ministries since the summer of 2002. These ministries have included time at a Lutheran summer camp, college campus ministries, a mission church, and for the past five years focusing on youth and young adults. Justin is married to Allison. While there are no kids yet, they do love their puppy Argon. Justin is also a huge fan of the Packers.
